Loose the chains of injustice

Set the oppressed free

Do about physical needs

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter –when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?”

(Isaiah 58:6-7 NIV)

“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed”, but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

(James 2:15-17 NIV)

“I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes as innocent as doves”
(Matthew 10:16 NIV)

e cannot say we love God if we don't love people. Love goes with service. And we are called to start with the neediest, in using all the gifts, talents and skills we received to address their needs (physical, legal, spiritual, medical, social, educational, etc.). True,

sustainable and equitable development cannot be built upon injustices: a country that takes care first of the neediest and the poorest will surely flourish.

Development should start with looking into the neighbour's needs, in the communities, from grassroots to institutions and rulers.
