RWANDA (2001-2012)

Florence Boivin Roumestan just returned to Rwanda in September 2012 to develop the fight against Gender Based Violence and Human Trafficking with the UBUNTU Strategy. From there she will go back to DR Congo and the surrounding countries.


· Marched with the genocide survivors and intervened in conferences during the genocide commemorations

· Home church in the mission house

· Sheltered, ministered to, supported and lived with forty five street children in the mission house; were added to them seventy seven Congolese refugees from the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo (2001), increasing the logistical support up to 210 meals per day

· Radio interviews on Radio Rwanda and Contact FM (how to recognize a cult from a church; Genocide and revisionists in Canada, etc.)

· Soon after the 9/11 attack in New York, organized in Kigali a Conference & Debate (“Is Peace Attacked Today?” -Subtitles: “The Threats to the Peace, Fighting Terrorism, Mobilize for Peace, The Rwandan Experience of Reconciliation as a Model for Peace” -) at the Université Libre de Kigali with 12 panellists (UNDP representatives, pastors and spiritual leaders, the Mufti of Rwanda, journalists, Human Rights Commission representative, etc.)

· Organized and participated in educational forums with churches on HIV/AIDS and support to  associations of women living with HIV/AIDS

· Organized numerous seminars with churches and youth groups on forgiveness and reconciliation

· Teaching and preaching on the Word of God and how to apply His truths in the daily life

· Spiritual support to orphanages

· Created and operated a Christian café –restaurant-art gallery in Kigali, to evangelize, give opportunities to the youth to express their gifts and talents (music, art play, paintings, sculptures, etc.), and raise awareness about HIV/AIDS

· Denis Roumestan has  participated in the works of the Law Reform Commission and the Business Law Reform Task Force

· Empowered and ministered to political and spiritual leaders

· Counselled and trained churches and local Christian Associations in Development,

· In Universities (Kigali Independent University and National University of Rwanda), lectured in International and Development Law, International Private Law, International Public Law, and directed students’ thesis

· Consultancies for International Organizations, NGOs and Rwanda’s institutions (constitutional, legal, judicial and business reforms, good governance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Agriculture, Parliament, Privatization, and development agencies, etc.)

· Denis Roumestan has been the lead Consultant for the design and implementation of the Institute for Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Nyanza, Southern Province, Rwanda, which provides a post graduate program for all the lawyers in the country with a vision of becoming an international reference center

· Organized the coming in Rwanda of two Canadian lawyers (from New Brunswick) in December 2005 for a two week Training of Trainers Session at ILPD,

· Denis Roumestan has been since 2002 lead consultant in the restructuring of the Rwandan financial sector (banks mergers and acquisitions),

· In the Southern Province (Nyanza), spiritual, material and financial support to sixty vulnerable persons

· Participated in Kigali in all the annual Conferences on Investment, and the Conferences on the East African Community

· Florence Boivin-Roumestan was, with businessmen and Government Officials, member of the Jury of the first Miss Kigali

· Florence Boivin-Roumestan intervened in the Workshop on Investigation, Prosecution and Adjudication of Sexual and Gender Based Crimes

· Brought a team of Rwandan women in Eastern DR Congo for peace and reconciliation and to give love to women victims of rape; our Rwandan sisters have supported our documentary “La Paix Violée” (Raped Peace)

· Strategic Planning of the Rwanda Women Parliamentarian Forum (Forum des Femmes Parlementaires du Rwanda) 2008-2012

· Denis Roumestan has trained Senators, Deputies and their technical staff in legislative drafting, legislative oversight, and report analysis, etc.

· Denis Roumestan has been the in-country technical leader and lead consultant in the HIV/AIDS Policy Reform Initiative (2010)
